Welcome

Welcome on our website. The Viola Profonda, tenor-voice of the bowed string instruments, was invented in Berlin-Germany by the Bolivian composer Gerardo Yañez. The prototype was built in 2007 and the world premier took place at the famous Thomaskirche-Leipzig.

-"The viola profonda is a fantastic instrument. Always if I composed or arranged for classical string quartet I had the feeling that something is not in order with the alto - the sound is the same as in the sopran. The invention of the viola profonda dissolves this problem! The second voice can be played by the viola. Also her sound is dazzling. It remembers on the warm tone of a Gamba but with the radiance of a classical viola. It's simply a revolution in the classical music our days."
